Eco nuggets:

Happy Holidays (:

Snow is settling in and we’re ready to get cozy. Here are some ways to continue to be more eco-conscious this holiday season:

  • Bake Your Own Bread! Many store-bought breads can be loaded with additives, and fall is the perfect time to start baking again. Luckily I have this sourdough recipe for a perfect loaf. Bread or starter also makes a great gift!
  • Thrift What You Can! Winter is all about cozy sweaters and layering scarves to stay warm. Try to find what you can secondhand first before buying new.
  • Make A Warm Drink! Iced drinks are great in the warmer months, but in the colder months our focus should be on warming our bodies. Check out this blog post for some recipe inspo!
  • Adopt Low Waste Kitchen Habits!: The holidays always bring a lot of waste, but they don’t have to! Check out this blog post on how to reduce waste in the kitchen.
  • Compost Your Christmas Trees! I see people too often that toss their real trees in the trash after the holidays. There are many different recycling and composting programs that take these and dispose of them properly. If you’re local to Milwaukee, this site here is a great resource.
